Satyarthi (a Nobel Prize Winner) to visit Nepal next week

-13 DEC 2014, Kathmandu – Kailash Satyarthi, the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, is arriving in Kathmandu next week.
According to lawmaker Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, Satyrathi will arrive on December 19, and he is scheduled to address the parliamentary committee for Women, Children, Senior Citizens and Social Welfare. He will meet with President Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister

Sushil Koirala, Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and human rights activists.

The National Planning Commission will organise a roundtable discussion with Satyarthi, while other programmes have been planned to recognise his work against child exploitation, both in India and Nepal. Satyarthi will also be visiting Dang district.
Satyarthi, who heads the Bachpan Bachao Andolan to end child exploitation, had actively campaigned against child labour in carpet factories inKathmandu . His campaign has helped rescue and rehabilitate more than 12,000 Nepali children working in Indian circuses, embroidery factories and households. The BBA has rescued and rehabilitated about 84,000 children since its establishment.
