-22 Feb 2015, Kathmandu – CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has said the UCPN (M)-led opposition alliance is being driven by the intention to obstruct the promulgation of new constitution. Oli alleged that the opposition alliance is not showing readiness to return to the negotiating table so that they can fulfill their objective.

In an interaction with Civil Society representatives at party office, Balkhu on Sunday, Oli said the meeting of Constituent Assembly (CA) was postponed indefinitely so as to ease the talks and dialogues among the ruling and opposition parties.
Oli told the Civil Society representatives that his party is ready to show utmost flexibility to forge consensus. Oli said they gave the chairmanship of Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee to UCPN (M) and also became ready to extend the deadline to forge consensus time and again. Our gestures should be telling who is showing more flexibility, Oli said.
However, Oli said that no consensus would be forged on issues that will have negative repercussions in the long run and issues that will result in social and communal conflict.
“We will not let the ill-intention of the opposition bear fruit as part of which they first try to obstruct the process of Questionnaire Committee, and even if process begins they try to obstruct the meeting and eventually stop Constituent Assembly from achieving its goal,” said Chairman Oli.
